I would go with Windows 8 and wait for 8.1 to come out to see how they implement the start button back into Windows then decide whether to use start is back or not :) Other than compatibility with older software/games for example Halo combat evolved is not suppose to work with Windows 8 but does with 7, I see no reason to go back to windows 7 Unless you want to get ultimate and then use the included Windows XP VM you can download from Microsoft.

When it comes to tips I think the videos that people have put out helping you with building a PC on youtube like Linus, Newegg, TekSyndicate and Duncan3303 I don't think I need to advice you about anything :)

Also keep us posted, and don't forget to put your build log up on the build log section :D

Love the Specs and everything. Gonna be a beast of a PC... but how in the world didn't you afford all this?

Hey, I was 13 when I built mine (Like 6 months ago XD). Watch plenty of tutorials, and read a lot too. Just try to build as much knowledge as you can, and don't be afraid to ask questions :P Also, when it comes to building it, don't rush, take it slow. If it doesn't work straight away, don't panic. Oh, and get the cables neat when you are building it!

Also, I run Windows 8, and love it. There are plenty of programs that add a "start menu" if you are desperate to have it, though you might find you like the modern UI.

Nice spec!

Those are some awesome specs buddy! I'm building my first rig over the Summer too, although I'm 15...you win on that one. I'd go for Windows 8 buddy, it boots a lot faster than 7 does, and with start is back you shouldn't miss win7 too much. (Start is back is a fully functioning start button, whereas the start on the up-coming 8.1 won't be)

Look forward to seeing this beast when she's fully built. I'll do a build log of my own for my first rig. (doing a red color theme with an RoG board)

Like the others...how the f**k did you find the money dude? I can't imagine a 13 year old earns too much? Well your doing the right thing with it whatever the case may be. ;)

nice rig good luck as well

i have windows 7 on my desktop mainly because i find it more convenient to use windows 7 on a desktop where you don't have touch unless you have a touch enabled monitor and for a laptop/tablet i would go for windows 8
