Horrendous bluetooth mouse lag

Bought a shiny new mouse (Microsoft Sculpt Mobile Mouse) and it is great... except for the fact that it lags/freezes for a second or two about every minute or so... it is infuriating. I feel like burning it in a raging fire right now. Tried disabling power saving options such as telling Windows not to turn off the Bluetooth adapter to save power etc. but the lag is still happening. Latest drivers on everything. All Windows updates installed. Anyone know any solutions? Windows 8.1.

I had the same problem with another microsoft mouse, changing the battery maybe helps a bit, but i resolved switching the usb port in which the receiver was plugged in...
