Help choosing psu please!

Mdude

hi I recently bought a r9 280x for my pc I had a 500w psu it turned fine ran games but when I tried unigine heaven benchmark to make sure it was stable it crashed and it said the anti surge was activated so I didn't put under stress any more to not cause damage.so I'm looking for a new psu I have a very strict budget(due to spending £150 on gpu) and was looking at this psu

Artic Blue 750W Quad 12v Rails (32 amp max per Rail) 80+ Plus Bronze Power Supply with 12cm Cooling Fan - Featuring - Molex - SATA - Floppy - 20/24 Pin & 4 Pin connections

I know it's a cheapy but really can't spend more than that atm just wondering your opinion on wether it's enough to power my system and also what is ment by quad rail 12v is 32Ax4 or just 32A shared?

Many thanks

System:

And fx4100

12gb ram

Sapphire r9 280x dual x

1tb HD and 120gb ssd

I would look at the evga 500w b2. It's really cheap yet it's a high quality power supply. You were not overloading your psu on that rig unless it was insanely crap.  And I take it since you are will to get a bigger power supply that is still crap it really was just a fail tastic power supply in the first place. Evga has class leading power supplies. Basically anything they have it's the best thing you can get for the price.

and just to add, that system will never draw more than 400W even when benching. So if your power supply was failing it was because it HAD TO BE super low quality.

Yeah, plenty to oc, I can't imagine you can throw another extra 120 watts at your components without them blowing up anyway. You may be able to peak just around 400w with that system but continuous use will be much lower. That psu will be fine.

What do you guys think of this psu

Thermaltake 530W Hamburghttp://www.aone.co.uk/ProdInfo.ASP?ProductID=4641

It's mediocre at best.

The TS 550: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9

or 600B1 would be better: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10600kr

Nooooo. Seriously don't skimp on the psu as it could cost you more in the long run i.e Fried components.

This is cheap enough and is good quality.

I have had the EVGA 850w G2 PSU for about 5 months now and it hasn't let me down at all so far. I did a lot of research on the PSU I was going to get as I wanted it to last me a long time and so it would give me room to upgrade to almost whatever I want. Here are the main points for why I got it and why I would recommend it

*It has a 10 year warranty

*Made by EVGA so it's a trusted brand I guess

*Has an optional Eco mode which makes the fan not spin until the PSU gets up to about 40*C or 50*C

*When the fan does turn on I cant hear it at all

The only problem that you might have with this PSU is the price as it's 118€ so like 100£ I think

Anyway hope this helps and if you dont want to spend that much on a PSU check out the 750w (10yr warranty), 600w (3yr warranty) or 500w (3yr warranty) ones from EVGA

They cost about £38 ($60) for the evga 500b. So should I not go for the aerocool looks like a good psu(on paper)

At the very least stick with the evga 500w, I think you should save a few bucks for the b series but don't get an arecool over an evga psu. That's be crazy.
