So as some of you might know I was considering building a new pc and i bought all the parts yesterday, I will post pics once it is up and running.

Components:

Amd FX-8350

XFX radeon 7950 tahiti pro

Gigabyte 970A-D3 motherboard

8GB corsair Vengeance LP dual channel (2X4)

FSP Raider 550W Power Supply 80 plus silver

an old dvd drive for installing windows

NZXT source 210

Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Corsair GS 128GB SSD

So the problem is that when i first built it, shut down randomly don't know why after a few hours and then it kept shutting down except each time a little bit less time inbetween shutdowns untill it shut down in the middle of a windows update and screwed up the windows installation. So i decided to reinstall windows i cleared the harddrives and reinstalled it completely but every time it finishes the first part of installation and restarts to continue it will load for a few seconds and power off every time. I have rulled off it being the graphics card the power supply the RAM and the Hard drives are not likely causes of this problem can any one help or think of a solution I really want this computer to work but now i can't even install windows.

Have you checked and double checked that all the wires are plugged in properly and that you have plugged them in.

Yes i have done that multiple times while swapping out components and power supplies.

Have you tried all of the parts on different systems? It could very well be that the motherboard is broken but I doubt it.

I have tested the graphics card by putting a different graphics card in the system and it did the same thing i have done the same process the same with RAM and PSU, i was starting to think it was the motherboard as well since it is the only thing i can't test besides the CPU but that was running fine in the beginning  so i have no reason to believe its the CPU.

Seems to me you've narrowed the problem down quite a bit, though it could be even the fact that your wall isn't giving you enough power but that's pretty unlikely. Do you have a another motherboard you could try with the other parts?

Could you just plug in the SSD and NOT the HDD..do not even plug in the DVD..

I need to plug in the DVD drive to install windows and i have ruled that out as the problem since it crashed without it in when i had already installed windows, i could try just using the ssd but i don't think thats the problem.

Power supply not giving your components enough power ? , i had the same problem when i was playing games like BF3 or Skyrim < turns out it was my PSU

no its not that the PSU has at least 50W of headroom at full load

i think your best bet is to try a different mobo and see if that works

I'd say you should return your motherboard for a new one. Assuming you can still return it, if not RMA then 14 days of purchase?

I am returning it tomorrow as it is sunday and the shop i got it from isn't open for sunday trading, so hopefully they will diagnose it and give me a new one or just give me a new one up front (I bought the computer from an Australian PC shop called PLE Computers not sure if they are in America).

Good luck..I hope that you can get everything fixed up ..Let us know how you make out.. :)

Thanks hope it all goes well and was just a faulty motherboard, i did manage to install windows on my barracuda but it was still having random shut downs so I'm almost certain it is the motherboard that is the issue.

You must be so frustrated by all this..Sorry for your troubles..Lets hope that it is quick and clean at the shop and you can be up and running...

tell me about it i'm 14 built my first pc from console gaming then all this happens, i wish companies would quality check their products more often and only send out good ones, but then again that would take allot of time and money so just better hope i get a good one this time as i only have enough thermal past for one more CPU and i dont think i can reuse the stuff thats already on there.   <_<

Nice!!! Did the shop replace your motherboard no problem / no questions asked? I'm glad it's all okay, now you don't have to go back to consoles haha
