Would be great to see which is better since they are both at about the same price. Or is there something better those two around the 170 - 190 dollar range, dont plan on CFing

The 270 might be an "X" card but the 280 is still better. Yes, it has 1GB less VRAM but that won't make much difference. The only time that will make a difference is on very high resolutions (like 4K) where the extra memory will help a little.

The R9 280 hands down delivers more performance.
