Back in May of 2012 I bought a Dell XPS 8500. Originally, it was just going to be used to playing Minecraft and doing general web surfing and video watching. As time went on I learned how much more I spent for something I could have build myself and I was getting more and more into the visual experience of PC gaming. From there I slowly upgraded a few parts of the system until I decided I was just going to build a whole new system.

What I'm upgrading from:

The Borg Cube:

CPU: Intel i7-3770

CPU Cooler: Corsair H90

GPU: Gigabyte Windforce Radeon HD 7950

RAM: 2x4GB 1600MT/s

Mobo: ASRock Z77 Pro3

OS: 120GB Sandisk Extreme SSD

Storage: 1TB Seagate Barracuda

PSU: Corsair CX600M 600 Watt

Case: Corsair 540 Air

I am going to love the drives over to the new system and the cooler is going to the new system. Don't worry the other PC is still going to put to use. I am going to put some old hard drives into it and i'll be running servers on it and i'm going to use it as a NAS.

My plan for the new build:

Pluto:

CPU: Intel i7-4790k

CPU Cooler: Corsair H90

GPU: EVGA ACX GTX 780 (I got this a couple of weeks before the 9xx series came out for about $350, but I want to sell it or exchange it for a GTX 970, so before I do the build this might change)

RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400MT/s

Mobo: ASUS Impact VII

OS: 120GB Sandisk Extreme SSD

Storage: 1TB Seagate Barracuda

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2

Case: Corsair 250D

Green = Arrived

Orange = Ordered

Red = Not Ordered

Also depending on if I switch to a GTX 970 before the build and how much money I can save between now and when I do the build, I may do a custom loop for the whole system. If I don't switch the GTX 970 I probably won't do the custom loop, and if I do switch the GTX 970 but don't have enough money, I have to wait for a month or two and then I'll revisit the build log and do the water loop.

Here are the parts I'll be using if I do:

CPU/Mobo Block: EK-FB ASUS M6I

GPU Bock: EK-FC 970 GTX

Reservoir: EK-XRES 140 D5

Pump: D5 Laing Pump

Radiators: Alphacool NexXxos ST20 Dual 120mm and Phobya Xtreme 200mm (I'll get fans to fit all of the radiators after I decide if I'm going to do the custom loop or not)

Tubing: Bloodshed Red PrimoChill PrimoFlex Advanced LRT 3/8" ID x 5/8" OD

Fittings: Bitspower G1/4 Carbon Black Compression

Coolant: Good Ole Fashioned Distilled Water (With Kill Coil)

I would love to hear from you all if you have any different ideas for this build.

I would love to hear from you all about things that I should try out with the build or things I should tweak.

Seems ok to me. If only there was mini-ITX X99 :)
