I haven't done much research but at $300 the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 seems to be a strong option for 14ish hours:

If you can stand windows phones, the Nokia Lumia 1520 is at $100 and lasts 11ish hours

Not sure how they did their tests but of the two sites I visited they consented.

The Nexus 5 and LG can both be found for under $400. Found them as low as $225 if you know where to look and don't mind having a (lightly) used one.

The Oppo Find 5 can be found on swappa.com for $210. Thinking of getting it.

aside from these $300 smart phones thoughts on nexus 6?

Nexus 6 looks good, but I think the screen is too large. Phones are pretty much turning into tablets, I think 5.5 inches is the largest phone I will ever buy. Also i'm not a fan of the design it looks a little cheap, the Nexus 5 was a very simple looking phone. Other than that it should be a great phone.
