Finding a new keyboard...

RaceOfAce
Go to solution Solved by DeepStarCorp,

I was dead set on getting a regular Corsair K70 with Browns, but then I considered my needs.

  • I don't really need backlighting
  • I do need a full keyboard (I'm one of those weirdos who uses the numpad)
  • The K70 is an expensive piece for what it does.
  • It is a nice looking keyboard and the wrist rest would be nice to have.

Now I'm thinking a Razer Blackwidow Stealth might be enough to get me a mechanical keyboard's benefits without the extensive cost. From what I gather, their switch is essentially an MX Brown made in China with a different actuation point. But obviously Razer build quality still sits at the front of my mind.

So really the question is (without brand favouritism), is the value increase in a K70 worth the extra $50 (in Australia)? What keyboards could you recommend as a middle ground? Thanks guys!

LOL at comparing a meh at best Razer BWS to an K70. A k70 is 10x the Keyboard that the latter will ever be. Not even in the same league. Get the K70 and you feel like a millions bucks.

Get the razer, you will feel like a guy who drives this Riced out POS:

This is the Corsair K70:

Choice is yours bro.

Again though for emphasis, this is a Razer Keyboard:

And the K70:

Source: I worked at Razer in Carlsbad, Ca (San Diego) and had to use tons of that janky razer crap, and have hadm used, abused dozens of K70's since they came out. They take it like a champ and the Product support is TOP NOTCH with Corsair. With Razer, you would get a call from a guy like me who was in charge of pretty much denying your initial RMA Ticket request.

Heck no, Razer can give me their Blackwidow stealth with their Razer switches over my dead body. Razer uses cheap ripoff switches that are similar to the MX Cherry switches. If Razer was gonna use cheaper switches, i would think they would lower the price, but no they didn't. If you want a full keyboard then a CM Storm Quickfire TK will do the job.

I think I understand how great the K70 is after that car analogy :D. I might as well splurge, I use my computer for several hours a day, so I don't see why I should suffer.

Glad I could help :) I obviously exaggerate a bit, and Razer's are cool if you are into that sort of thing. However, the Product Support was really bad, it is getting better, but still leagues behind Corsair.
