Anyone know which router is better? Asus rt-N65U or WD mynet n900 central. I don't have anything in the house that supports ac speeds but do like the option for built in nas like storage and being able to add in an external USB 3 drive. Also, the auto network traffic prioritization is a big plus. Thanks for any help!!!!

This will beat both of those, I believe I heard before that this is the same one linus uses for something and he loves it.

TheKDub is right and I'll say Asus always have the edge for performance in router because of the hardware they use. I'm so intensive with my router that I notice a big difference between my previous RT-AC66U and my actual RT-AC87U.

So always go Asus over western digital for routers?

I would say yes, the price bracket of the router are pretty similar that you don't have to pay that much for superior hardware with Asus. And you can get a lower priced Asus superior hardware just because it has lower performance wifi if you pretty much care only about wired performance.

What I would I do if I were you, I would look the CPU/RAM performance of the last Asus routers and take a look at websites like NewEgg.com to see their actual price to make comparison between those and know how much I would have to spend more for a higher clocked CPU or more RAM. In computers, electronics stuff it's amazing how much performance you can get for few bucks more.

As an exemple, I've looked for you on NewEgg.com.

The RT-AC56U is 105$ with free shipping, it has the 2nd best CPU in the Asus line-up, it has the same amount of RAM as the most expensive router in Asus line up, it's the cheapest Wifi AC router with Gigabit ports (1000 Mb/s not only 100 Mb/s). So it's weakness it's his wifi signals which are the lowest performance you can get on wifi AC routers. If you want better performance AC Wifi you have to spend more but it's a really solid router for 105$ and having wifi has the only weakness or so.
