Windows Server 2012 Essentials Help

Have been a member of the forum for a while now and this is my first post...

 

Im currently using a HP Media Smart Server running WHS v1 at the moment and im looking to build a new server and installing 2012 Essentials as its the latest replacement.. so what i have decided to do is install it in a Virtual Machine and use it for a while to see how i go with it.  the problem im having is that i cant get it to connect to the internet...

 

has anyone played with it to know what im doing wrong? i have manually given it a IP address and pointed the DNS to my router which works on everything else on my network but this

 

please help!!!
