Hey, never really posted here before but I thought i would try it out. I was looking into building a computer that would be used for video editing, recording, rendering, and gaming. (in that order) I would like to keep it around 600-800 but not really sure about what motherboard/CPU to start with. The main programs i will be using it adobe suite.

Thanks for the help if anyone can make some recommendations.
Thanks.

If you wanted, its possible to fit in an i7 with the reduction of other components (GPU, PSU)

What about gaming on 720p medium for a while and get a video card later so you can spend about 200$ more for your parts now ?

PC : | CPU: Intel 4790K | COOLER: Corsair H105 w/ JetFlo's Push/Pull | MOBO: EVGA Z97 Classified | GPU: EVGA FTW 4GB GTX 970 X2 | RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 1866Mhz 32GB | CASE: HAF Stacker 945 | PSU: Corsair AX1500i | DISPLAY: Asus MX299Q | SSD: 2 X Corsair Neutron GTX 480 GB in RAID0 | mSATA SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB | HDD: 4 X Western Digital RED 4 TB in JBOD |

If I was to go with the i7 which one do you think would be the best option?

Yeah I really want the gaming to be put on the back burner for processing power for rendering and editing. But in saying that I wouldn't want to go much lower.

My opinion is that you should go with i7 4790K and Maximus VII Hero so whatever parts you upgrade after that won't require you to re-install your OS and softwares.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to look into these a bit and see what I think.

This is what I would get if you want maximum CPU performance for the least amount of money, while being able to do medium gaming:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($299.93 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M Anniversary Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($73.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Team Dark Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($132.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270 2GB Dual-X Video Card  ($159.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($44.99 @ Mwave)
Total: $826.86

CPU: Very strong cores with a 4 core base clock of 3.6GHz, so overclocking isn't necessary for good performance. (If possible, get an i7-4790K for even higher clock rates and an unlocked multiplier)

CPU Cooler: Intel Stock, comes with the CPU (AFAIK) and is quiet enough under idle and keeps the CPU cool under load. (If possible, get an aftermarket cooler for better cooling)

Motherboard (Mobo): Cheap H97 for most higher tier features in a budget board (If possible, get a Z97 board for even better features and overclockabilty with a K processor)

Memory (RAM): 16GB for large videos to make sure there is no bottle necking, and 1600MHz speed for slighly faster performance than 1333MHz RAM (If possible, get the highest possible speed RAM your motherboard supports, as well as name brand)

Storage: Standard 1TB hard drive, works good enough not to slow the system down noticeably (If possible, get an SSD as well for fast boot times/loading times)

Video Card (GPU): This card has gone down in price a lot since launch, and it works fairly well for 1080p gaming. (If possible, get an Nvidia GTX 970/(960 when it comes out), since that is their latest line and has very good price/performance/heat ratios)

Case: Cheap but decent case with some airflow, may not fit huge CPU coolers (If possible, get a larger/better case for better airflow, more mounting points, better styling, and whatever you like)

Power Supply (PSU): Standard 550W semi-modular for compatibility of almost any single video card setup, as well as being able to add on other components. (If possible, get a PSU with a higher 80+ efficiently rating and/or full modular cabling)

Also remember to pick of a copy of Windows and all cables/peripherals that might be needed. And make sure to have fun!

.

**Edit** The price is a little high, it can be reduced by getting a cheaper GPU, less RAM, or a cheaper CPU/Motherboard setup.
