You can, I wouldn't say it's ideal though.

Ok. What would be ideal? I am using a Phanteks Luke case.

 

The 420 would be getting there, heck it's adequate if you're not expecting sub 60 degree temps under load. A 420 Alphacool XT45 can dissipate about 300W of heat. Add another 240 or 280 in the front and you're golden.
