So I forgot my password the other day, used the forgot password thingy, got a temp password. I can't change it though. I'm logged in, and when I go to my settings to change it, I'm only given an option to change my email address or set a "local" password for mobile devices. Wtf?

My PC. Same computer Ive always used.

'local' passwords are stored and internally managed by the pc, this is how Windows passwords have traditionally been. The default option when setting up a password from windows 8 on is to use a Microsoft account, this means Microsoft manages your password on their servers. I think you might have forgotten your Microsoft Online account password, which you can reset here https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/?mkt=EN-US&ru=https://login.microsoftonline.com/login.srf%3flc%3d1033%26mkt%3dEN-US%26lc%3d1033%26id%3d10%26vv%3d2020&lc=1033

Although I do tend to recommend local passwords.
