Looking for advice on GPU

Right now gtx 780 can be bought for $320, but the only drawback I have is that I'm not sure when I'll be able to upgrade to a higher resolution monitor than 1080p with a better than 60hz refresh rate. My question is not that is the gtx 780 worth it, but will it be a waste of money since I cant leverage the horsepower.

I can use the power of a 780ti. Some people say it's a waste but I don't know about you but I like to play games with 60fps minimum and even a 780ti can't play all games @ 60fps min on a single 1080P panel.

Honestly, if you plan on getting a better monitor on the long run then it might be worth it. But if you plan to stick to 1080p for awhile try the gtx 770 instead.

I do plan to eventually purchase either a 2560x1080 or 2560x1440, but it might have to wait until black Friday(unlikely) or tax return time.

wot? 780/970 is the best card for 1080p.
