Surface Pro 3 recommendation?

Aside from the issue with thermal throttling, are there any other major flaws with the surface pro 3? Build quality issues? etc. I'm considering buying one for University as the form factor seems really appealing for portable usage. Thanks!

The majority of thermal throttling issues have been fixed with a firmware update. The surface Pro 3 is a great device.

Awesome device, you can watch Linus's review but I honestly felt he was a little harsh and one sided on it. IMO its a great little thing if it fits your lifestyle (Like many other things), I want one

Eh, but that's also kind of subjective. Can it replace a laptop as far as specs and software is concerned? Of course! It can have the exact OS and hardware that any laptop in its class would have, and the keyboard works just like a normal laptop as far as basic typing is concerned. Can it replace the convenience of having a laptop with a solid base that sits well on your lap? Maybe, maybe not; it depends on how much you are willing to adapt to having to balance a thin kickstand on your knees. 

 

Long story short, it most certainly is a "notebook" replacement, just maybe not a "LAPtop" replacement.
