Long Post warning...because I am bored and tired at work...and tend to ramble.

After recently discovering LinusTechTips on YouTube during one of my enjoyable 12 hour night shifts, I deiced I would go head and join this community.

Little (sort of long) back story on myself...

Back in the day, I was big into tech and computers.  I starting modding computers (mainly my dad's work DOS and Windows machines) when I was around 11 or 12.  Starting more serious tinkering and upgrading by 14.  Then I built my first computer at the age of 15.  This was an AMD Athlon based system with Windows XP, 1GB RAM, PNY GPU, and a stellar 80GB WD hard drive .  Over the next several years, I'd upgrade and build computers as a hobby, but like most childhood hobbies I stopped when I needed to get a real job and become an adult.  I probably would have tried working with computers as a job, but I did not have the money to go to college.  After several years of not really doing much, I finally started making a decent amount of money at my job.  So, I go back into my very first passion...cars.  I have been through a a handful of fun cars over the years.  Focusing on cars, however, I did not really get back into computers.  I still always have had a love of technology and learning about computers.  I just had more fun building fast cars over building fast computers.  Because of this, every computer I have had, or still have, over the last 7 years have been store bought off the shelf

I mainly joined because I enjoy watching the Linus YouTube videos, and I am in the process of finally getting a new desktop.  So, most of my time on here will be spent lurking and reading about what direction I will end up going with the build.  And yes, I plan on building the rig myself...I have had an itch to try my hand at it will all the new tech that is available.

I currently own 4 computers and an iPad (that I loathe).

My current computer are:

2 Laptops, one 15" HP (bought 2009) and the other 17" Toshiba (bought 2012), and both are AMD based systems. I do not know the exact specifications on the systems, but they get the job down for YouTube browsing in my bed.

1 Toshiba Netbook, bought in 2012 with the Intel Atom.  I got this for traveling and being being able to watch movies while on a plane.  The things is a lot easier to carry and the battery will last about 10 hours while watch videos in VLC.  The only issue, the processor and GPU are awful, and it will not playback my 720p or 1080p movies.

I got the iPad and an even more portable device and easier YouTube vegging while laying in bed.

And finally...my desktop.  It is an off the shelf HP System that I got at BestBuy in December 2007 after my last home build system crashed from a virus.  Not a bad computer considering I paid about $500 for it, and it still works now.  It is really just starting to show it's age, especially since it is a 32bit system.  I have upgraded a couple components throughout it's life, probably why I am still able to play a semi-modern game with no serious issues.  But I never did a major hardware upgrade.  Now, It is starting to have trouble even running some basic programs.  I never really put a high priotrty on upgrading, because I was more occupied dumping money into my cars.

Even though I am still building a car to be stupid fast, I have decided that it is time to retire the HP Desktop.

I look forward to learning from everyone here.

wow u summed that up pritty well

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.1 Corinthians 13:4

Summarized fairly well...only thing, I have never played COD online.  I own a PS3 that sees more NetFlix duty than games, unless I get the urged to rob a convenience store in GTA5 (and yes, I have never played that online either).
