Opinions on upgrading

So now that the new nvidia series came out I've been putting some thought into maybe making an upgrade. I currently have a 7870 xt and while I've never had a problem with its performance in any games I do feel like i want something better. I also noticed that one of its fans stopped working about a month ago but my temperatures are still ok considering my warm room and well.. one less fan.So a couple of question i have-

 

Would it be worth upgrading to a gtx 970 from my current gpu right now or should i just hold off till the next generation or for AMD to come out with something new? I looked at the 980 to but i guess i don't feel comfortable spending that much on a gpu at the moment.

 

Also is there a Reference model of the 970? i really like the look of that cooler but haven't seen any with it.

IMO gtx970 is a good GPU, but I think it's prob better to wait it out, since your card isn't that old anyways.
