Hey everyone

I was wondering if any of you had experience using DoorBot.

If you don't know what it is, it basically is a doorbell with a camera and intercom on it so you don't have to open the door to know who's there. You look through the camera using a smartphone app and use the phone microphone to talk through the intercom.

My mother has a bad knee so she can't get around the house very quickly so I saw this and thought it looked pretty good for her especially if it was someone that was up to no good or it's the dreaded Jehovah's witness.

Just from looking on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Doorbot-Wi-Fi-Enabled-Smart-Doorbell/dp/B00EP5W22A) it doesn't seem to have great reviews, with most people saying it's a great idea but just isn't there yet.

My aunt has one like this but it takes a picture and sends it to the included remote, don't know if it allows you to talk through it. I'll try to find it.

Ahh so that's how it works. I thought it was solely through an app

the one that you listed is through the app.

I found this one that looks like the one my aunt has: http://www.vtechphones.com/doorbell

Seems, okay...

Doesn't seem like this technology is just there yet, if you want you could just use a regular security camera system.

Looks like someone recently won a competition with Sharp (electronic company) similar with this but more features. I guess I'll wait
