Minecraft applied energistics help?

Go to solution Solved by Decon,

I tried that, but like I said it's been so long since I played I forgot a lot lol. I attached an me cable from my network to the me interface, then an item duct from the me interface to the furnace. The problem was it would just constantly fill the redstone furnace up regardless what I said. I tried putting a pattern in the me interface but it didn't help anything. I still couldn't order X ingot from my crafting terminal. The box is there to craft, but it never crafts anything. I've checked every wiki I could find and youtube video about it. But I can't find anything with regards how to actually wire the machines up and what to set them to. I know it's possible because I did watch a youtube video, lets play, about 6 months ago on it. But I can't remember what exactly he did.

If all else fails I could just have it smelting automatically, I have figured that out. But I would rather the ingots be smelted on request and not constantly. No reason in particular just my ocd and it will help cut down on lag, which is what I'm working on. With all my machines I was getting 40fps, just by changing my power source to big reactor and removing my auto lava producing with crucibles and my lava generators I have got back up to 80fps. But I'm still working on better options.

check the wiki, it is extremely helpful; also try watching so of the Hole Diggers Extra episodes from the yogscast as they have quite a few episodes on setting up auto smelting and advanced crafting using me crafting cpus and me interfaces.

So after a long (months) break from minecraft I started again today. I was playing agrarian skies and started revamping my setups. Started with updating my power system to big reactors, then moved to automated crafting with applied energistics but I've ran into a problem. I've built the Molecular Assembler Chamber and hooked it to my network and it is working fine to craft items. However I am wanting to put smelting into the mix using redstone furnaces. Basically I want my broken, crushed and pulverized ores to combine into blocks then smelted. I have the combines of the blocks setup, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make them smelt in the redstone furnace, mainly how to hook them up. I've tried export buses, import buses etc. on the redstone furnace and I can get it to automatically pull the blocks out. But I cannot get it to smelt the ore on my demand.

My computer is on my main level,  my Molecular Assembler Chamber is 3 floors above, I have me cable running to the Molecular Assembler Chamber from the system. I want to setup the redstone furnaces in the room with the Molecular Assembler Chamber. I've put a pattern for the ore block to iron ingot in the Molecular Assembler Chamber but it turns red (normal?) It shows up for me to craft but it never crafts the item no matter how I have the furnaces attached. I have used me interfaces with the redstone furnaces but still couldn't figure it out.

I know this is fairly simple, I just haven't played in so long I forgot a lot about applied energistics (and most the mods frankly) but I would like to get this working. If you could help me out on how to get just one furnace working, I can figure the rest out. I want to have a bank of furnaces dedicated to smelting one type of ore on my demand. Which shouldn't be hard to figure out once I get one working. Any help is greatly appreciated. :D

Needs to use an ME Interface with a furnace to work, not a molecular assembler; that is only for crafting as far as I know. The molecular assembler is from an unstable version of ae2 so I don't use it much. Check the official wiki page for details; it is very helpful. Hope that helped :)

Chances are it is something simple I am screwing up, I'm bad about that at times. I really just need a basic idea of how it is suppose to be hooked up, with what and where the pattern needs to be. From there I can probably figure it out.

Oh I watch hole diggers but they're kinda complicated, meaning a lot of what they do can be simplified lol. I watch yogscast for entertainment though. But anyways I just figured it out. I was using import and export buses when I didn't have to. I just connected me cable to the machine from my  network and viola it smelted what I told it too. Told you it was probably something easy lol. I thought I had to have the buses on every machine, just forgot I suppose. Off to learn and forget some more about applied energistics :P

If you need anymore help with Applied Energistics let me know. It is one of my favorite mods so I should be able to help you.

Thanks! I believe I have it sorted out now and have my memory refreshed. Spent about 30 hours on minecraft since the post lol. But I agree I love the mod and it is one of my favorites as well. Honestly most of the mods in agrarian skies are really good. I hate the bees mod (whatever it is called) and not a fan of thaumcraft (that's just a personal preference) but other than that I really enjoy the modpack. I wish I could use most of the mods in a survival world that wasn't skyblock and possibly add some mods like mo' creatures and some others to have the world feel more alive. If I had that I think I would have the perfect modpack for me personally lol.

I could probably download all the mods individually and put them all together or heck there may even be somewhere I could download what I described. I haven't put much thought into it. Not gonna worry about it until I finish agrarian skies. 30 more quests to go, mainly bees and thaumcraft stuff.

I might have to try Agrarian Skies when I get the chance.

The only thing that is tricky about agrarian skies is some recipes are disabled and/or changed for some items. The mod pack maker did it for balance reasons, it's not a huge deal once you get pretty far into it. But at first it's tricky. Agrarian skies is a skyblock with questing, there's a quest book with over 130 quests to complete. I have put about 70 hours into at least and still not finished. You start off with some wood and from that you eventually build reactors, computers, auto farmers, mod grinders etc. It's just a satisfying feeling knowing you accomplished your world starting with just a tree and some dirt.

It's on the ftb launcher and I really do enjoy it. Like I said if I could have the modpack minus the recipe changes on a survival world it would be perfect. I love the technical side of some mods and this pack has a lot of technical stuff in it, at least from my understanding.
