Suggested Phone?

Go to solution Solved by Easy To Pronounce Name,

It seems like a really good option... Especially considering that it would be so much faster... But the screen is a huge selling point for me.

http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Droid-RAZR-Black-Smartphone/dp/B00563G0KA/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1410708718&sr=8-5&keywords=Motorola+Droid+Maxx is a bit too expensive and I tihnk it is only 720p so you have not left many options forunlocked phones. Maybe you should venture into the world of contracts, if completely necessary. Personally I would check ebay and used units on Amazon for a good deal on something like a Nexus 5. They can go for under 200 bucks with nothing wrong with them. Any way sorry I wasn't able to find something that fit all of your needs.

I plan on upgrading my phone today, but am not entirely sure on what to get. I've done some research and haven't been able to find any  other smart phones that are affordable (at most $250) , are 4G LTE, have an AMOLED display (minimum resolution of 720p), are on a prepaid servive (preferably Virgin Mobile or AT&T Go), and have decent specs (e.g. 1.5 GB RAM, at least a  dual-core). So my question for you guess is: do you know of any phones other than the Galaxy S3 that would match the criteria?
edit: a card slot would also be very, very prefered. Sorry for being so picky :P

http://www.fairphone.com give this a look :) I know it doesn't satisfy all the prerequisites, but by buying it you're definitely doing the right thing.

otherwise the lg g2 can be had for 300$ and destroys the s3 in everything.

Well The Nokia Lumia line of phones are quite cheap even for the more high-end 930/1020/1520/Icons but they lack a few aspects here and there. As for your OP, I personally think the Nexus 5, at $100 more off-contract is perfect as it satisfies basically everything you asked for. Ofcourse there are still the G2s/ Sony Xperia Zs and Moto X.

Thanks for taking time to reply, especially so quickly. The Fairphone seems really nice, but I don't think I could put money down on a phone that isn't 4G. Also, the G2 is about $100 over my limit and as much as I love the looks and ingenuity of the phone, I don't think I could get it over the Nexus 4 or something along those lines. But I simply don't have the money to spend on it ;-;

This page shows you all devices that use an Amoled display. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMOLED#Uses

Personally I would recommend you the Moto X.

It has a very nice 720p display (there are a few on the list that have 1080p and higher)

It has 2 GB of ram.

It costs less than 350 bucks on Amazon.

If you want a truly prepaid phone on the cheap I would highly recommend this. http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Verizon-Prepaid-Phone-Only/dp/B00HPP3QD6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410705418&sr=8-1&keywords=moto+x+prepaid

1 GB ram

Really bright colorful display.

CHEAP

Please reply if that didn't help you enough.

The unlocked Moto X would be too expensive (the cheapest I could find is $390) and the prepaid has a 720p TFT display, which I've already used and would much rather upgrade to an AMOLED. Thanks for your helpm though :)

Could try really hard to get a One+ One invite? That'll satisfy most of your needs.

Although hands down the MotoX (2013 or 2014) or Nexus 5 is what I'd be recommending. No expandable storage but they're fluid and fast. Could always check prices of the more flagship expensive devices on Verizon/AT&T/TMobile's sites and see what deals you think you could go for and then get our opinions on the specific phones. No point in us recommending a phone on contract if you can't get a contract for it in your area :)

A Moto G 4G? Or Huawei Ascend P6?

Sorry, the screen is just a bust for me :/ Thanks for your help, though.

Ok well in that case (no pun intended) I might have to point you towards http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HHZWO78/ref=s9_psimh_gw_p107_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=19WM9013RTBRNAT775PG&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846 it's pretty great but it is heavily skinned. I have seen the screen in preson and I have to say it looked about as nice as the Galaxy S4 in comparison.

The same company also makes http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KQ0HCD2/ref=s9_psimh_gw_p107_d0_i7?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=19WM9013RTBRNAT775PG&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846 for a little bit more you get the world's thinnest 1080p smartphone, Super Amoled display and 2 gigs of ram, however I would read some of the reviews. (I would probably not recommend this to everyone)

I would be recommending the Nexus 5 but it seems to be out of your price range.

Edit: I should mention that the white version is cheaper than the black one.

I've looked at the One+ One, but from what I've been informed by a friend failry educated when it comes to displays, AMOLED is superb. So I don't think I could shell out the money and have a "okay" display. Again, thanks for all your help. :)
