Good? Bad?

I'm not into overclocking

I have OS.

I have display, and peripherials.

(Also, I have a SATA2 HDD from Samsung, so I could sacrifice it for an SSD if you think it's a fair trade.)

Look ok to me, definitely need an SSD though. Also if possible try to get a FX 8520 instead :P and 270 and 270x performance is almost the same but 270x is a bit more expensive so you can downgrade that to a 270

If he's choosing those parts he probably are on budget, so going AMD is a better choice at a low budget build like this. If it's like 1000$ or more I'd definitely suggest an intel CPU though

I'm on a tight budget, I can't afford the better cpu AND the better GPU.

Like I said, the 270 perform just as well as the 270X while being CHEAPER, so you can get the 270 instead of the 270X you are choosing right now so you can cut some cost for the GPU to get a AMD FX 8320, only 30$ higher than the 6300 you are choosing right now

No, it's not. It's better to stick with i3. Which will perform better in games (& in general is better CPU), than that FX 6300.

Here it comes.

Go ahead, and create me a pc from 500-550 USD with an Intel processor. Please, I'd love to see it.

You know, the build you are having right now is already ~650 USD (Without discount)

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($106.02 @ Amazon)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($77.65 @ OutletPC)

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Elite 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($88.46 @ Adorama)

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($53.98 @ OutletPC)

Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card ($159.99 @ Micro Center)

Case: Thermaltake VL80001W2Z ATX Mid Tower Case ($24.99 @ Micro Center)

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($34.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $546.08

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-09-11 12:07 EDT-0400

(This is with a 270, 270X is about 30$ higher, and you got 60 USD discount since PCPartPicker count the mail in rebate and stuff.)

So like I said if it's in US you can easily swap the 270X to a 270 and CPU to a FX 8320, which will not make the price change, but I'm not sure about your country though

You are suggesting the i3 4150 isnt it? Cause the CPU that's on that list is about the same price as a FX 8350. Also those are locked CPU, the FX 6300 is unlocked so you can OC if you want.

SATA 2 HDD... you mean a 7200rpm HDD from Samsung right? this is quite a common misconception but games, especially multiplayer game like DotA 2, LOL etc will not benefit from running on SSD compare to running from a 7200 rpm HDD. You better stick with HDD in this case. First of all there isnt all that much to load for DotA2, and then even if you load faster than other ppl you will have to wait for them anyway. If you experience lag in your game it's probably your internet, not the HDD.

As for the GPU... well if you are just playing DotA2 I guess a 260 is fine too... but I wouldnt make that trade if you are playing other games like Battlefield 4 etc as well. I'd rather stick with a FX 6300 and the R9 270 if you really cant get an FX 8320 in that budget.

Yes, it's 116$ on Amazon & by the way, did you see yourself that video? i3 had better results in games: Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, only in BF4 FX was better. Plus i3 has better power consumption thx to new technology. Again there's no reason to buy FX, all in all, take the benchmarks I listed above where i3 has also big advantage in those games: Batman Arkham origin, Civilization 5, F 2013, Sleeping Dogs...
