Weird problem with my gpu

Hello guys, i have a problem with my gpu and i need help.

So the problem started when i was playing payday 2 my screen went black then i turned off my pc for 10 minutes in case something overheated. When i turned it back on it went as far as the welcoming screen and then blackness... I used my onboard gpu and everything seems to be ok. I tried a different card and everything was ok.

 

I tried to figure out the problem by trying various stuff and when i switched pci port it worked and it required drivers so i downloaded them, installed them and then reboot. It did it again... 

So i tried windows repair and it kinda fixed it... i was able to boot (it didnt require drivers and the gpu was in the original pci port) and do stuff untill i tried to download something (nothing crazy just a browser download) and blackness all over again.

 

I reainstalled windows 7 and installed the drivers for the card, rebooted and this time it didnt even reach the welcoming screen.

 

I dont believe its the psu because i have a 600 watt psu and when im gaming the whole pc requires around 280 watts.

 

My gpu is XFX HD 6850

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Install a previous driver version?

I did it, i installed the ones that came with the gpu.

Don't forget to uninstall different versions

Pfff nothing... I uninstalled everything with this http://www.ngohq.com/?page=Files&go=giveme&dwn_id=1726 and installed the ones you gave me but nothing ill probably end up baying a new gpu.

I worked a co-op at a system builder over the summer and every 6000 series card that came in had that problem(of course, it could have been coincidence. The owner(a quite experienced guy, obviously), was saying they were prone to that. Maybe you got one of those bad cards?

Maybe but i cant say that im not satisfied with it. It was operating for many hours a day for 3+ years and 1/4 of that was gaming so im quite pleased. Did you manage to fix any of those cards?

No, they would run fine while doing things on the desktop, but once they were running for a while they would crash. Even worse in crossfire.

did you try to clean the golden fingers of your GPU with a soft eraser? I have a HD 6670 and something similar happened to me a while ago. I tried to turn the system on but no video... then cleaned the GPU with an eraser and it worked again

Also, you have your PCIE graphics as the main one in your BIOS?

If it does ill have to cancel my order for the 3rd time lol (for the new gpu)
