My budget is about 300-350$ Canadian Dollars and so far i have about 120$ saved. I want to upgrade my GTX 460 to something that's much faster and has at least 2-4GB of VRAM. I want mostly raw performance I don't care about features and I want overclocking ability.

Reference designs are out of the question.

I was thinking GTX 770 2 or 4GB and maybe EVGA ACX?

Wait until the new 800/900 cards are announced, and benchmarked.  Shouldn't be much longer.  Should hopefully bring down the prices a little bit, as well as a lot of used cards on the market if you are not opposed to used cards.

Best bang for buck will be an R9 290.

I can't afford a 290 and I don't like how much heat and power it uses also it seems like it's going to be a long time before we see the 800/900 series come out.

I plan on overclocking it manually anyways so i don't care what the stock clocks are.

Really?  a 290 is $330 American, so maybe it will be around $350 Canadian?  Especially once the 800/900 is released.  And that is for brand new.  Used is a lot less expensive.

The 800/900 is speculated to be announced sometime this month, so it might be sooner than you think.

I understand that heat is a concern, but these cards are designed to run this hot and can withstand this heat.  Just stay away from a reference model and you will be fine.  Sapphire, Gigabyte and MSI all make good R9 290s.  Nothing will give you better raw performance for that price than an R9 290. They are all very overclockable too.  You could always buy a G10 + AIO at a later date to combat the heat if its a problem.

If the R9 290 is still out of the question, a 770, 280X or new 870/970 could be options.
