I've got my PC and i want to upgrade it, and i'm not quite sure what to do next with my PC.

Specs :

CPU : AMD FX-6300 ( New)

Motherboard : MSI 760GM-FX-P23-760G+ ( New)  ( Supports only up to 1333mhz RAM , Which i'm not to bothered about)

RAM : 4Gb DDR3 1333Mhz

Graphics Card : AMD Asus Radeon 6670 1GB GDDR5 VRAM

Case : Generic ZooStorm Brand Case ( No clue about anything else )

HDD : 1TB 5400RPM SATA 2

CD ROM : Something half decent :P

PSU : Coolermaster 500w 70% Eff

Back Fan : Generic 80mm Fan using a 3 Pin connector

If there is anything else i forgot please say. I do have ideas about upgrading and what i want to do. But i'd like to hear your say on what you think i should do. The price range can be anything at all. Unless it's over £300 ( $489 )

Wow thanks man , sounds like a plan. The  thing about the RAM is that it's only single channel...So would i need to buy another single channel stick or a complete new set of RAM?

Another stick should work fine. The difference between single, dual, and quad channel sets is that they've each been tested to work with the setups they're sold as.

I.e. a dual channel kit has been tested and is guaranteed to work on dual channel--its like buying a factory overclocked gpu. The non overclocked one might very well hit that overclock (or more), but the factory overclocked card is guaranteed to hit those speeds.

But two single channel sticks--should work in dual channel no problem--although they will run at the slower speed/timings and higher latency (i.e. the lowest performing of the two).

It would be better to buy a new double channel kit, but if you buy another single channel stick it may work with the one you have right now (assuming it's the exact same model) but there's no guarantees. If you buy a double/quad channel kit, all sticks in the kit are certified to work with each other.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Yeah i probably will buy a complete new set of RAM , the one i have now will be hard to find. I've looked everywhere. I'm probably get HyperX Fury 1333Mhz 8GBx1 Then i can upgrade to 16GBs in the future

I agree with the suggestions above but there is one thing I'd definitely change first.

You've said you've got a 500W CM PSU at 70% Efficiency. Sorry to burst your bubble here but 70% is absolutely terrible for today's standards and I wouldn't trust having that PSU in my PC. Since you've got lower end specs right you haven't encountered any issues but I am almost sure you will not hold up once you put in a higher end GPU.

First thing to do..?

Upgrade your PSU. Buy an 80+ Gold PSU. Maybe a 650/750W Gold certified PSU from EVGA, Seasonic, or Corsair. Even lower end models from these companies will be reliable, I guarantee it. You can get a 750W 80+ Gold PSU on sale for <$100. Just look around.

Next, get another 4GB of RAM.  One stick is OK but compatibility not guaranteed. I'd just get a new 8GB kit for a decent price.

GPU is next. However, I would definitely wait a little bit longer because the newest generation of Nvidia cards is almost out. Even if you don't like Nvidia, chances are the prices will drop and you'll be able to get a faster card for less money. It is coming... and fast.

Next buy a 120GB/250GB ssd (Recommend 840 Evo).

Everything else should be fine.

If you are reading this, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE buy a new PSU or at least give me the model number so I can check how good/bad it is. If you want to ignore everything else I said then fine, but please the PSU is extremely important.

Just because you haven't gotten into an accident doesn't mean you are safe. Just like driving a car with no air bags... fine if you don't get hit but what if you do? Honestly a better PSU is not that much money. If you choose not to listen then do so at your own risk. Every single person who knows PCs will tell you the PSU is one of the most important parts in your whole PC and cheaping out is certainly one of the biggest mistakes one can make. The PSU will not output enough wattage for a 290 or a higher end card. I understand how you feel but if I were you the very first thing I would purchase is a decent quality PSU. Good luck

Okay thank you for the information. I shall take it onboard. I won't be having a powerful GPU is my System anyway. The most ill every have is a 750ti/760 /AMD Equivalent. My PSU is about 2 years old , and i haven't got a problem yet. But i'm sure i will in the future. Hope not :P ) Thank you again)
