Maximus VII Hero code 55

Go to solution Solved by CJPowell27,

@finearm2112 No, did not remove cooler

@CJPowell27 Only thing I could think of is that the 8 pin goes over the top of my memory, maybe it wiggled/applied pressure on dimm b2.

You should check that, sometimes it's something stupid like that

So last week I upgraded my psu and went sli. Everything was fine did lots of synthetic benchmarks, and gaming. I had my side panels off since, so I decided to do some cable management and put the panels back on about 1.5 hrs ago. Went to boot up and got a code 55. Checked all my connections, wiggled things around still 55, cleared cmos still 55, wiggled more things around and was about to start to disassemble and it finally booted up, using now. Also had some issues with my usb ports, mouse had power but no pointer, now its working. Any suggestions?

Forgive me El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education...

I believe this has something to do with your CPU. Did you over tighten the cooler? Did you accidentally bend a pin? I would remove the cooler, and take out the CPU, see whats going on down there

Code 55 is memory not installed.  Make sure your memory is seated in the slots properly.

Do you have any other memory that you could try to use and test?

Damn you beat me to it but I actually looked through the manual and got distracted a few times xD

It is "Memory not installed" So double check your RAM

Weird. I read some where that this had to do with CPU pins or over tightening of the cooler.

What I'm saying is that you SHOULD remove the cooler, and take out the CPU, and check for bent pins.

Yeah read that on the ROG forums, guess what its the b2 dimm. I touched it and it shut off, 8 pin connector probably had pressure on it.
