I need some of you guys here at the techtips forums to batch up an mATX intel Z97 chipset build, the target budget is 1000$$$$

It must include the hardware, 1080p monitor (i prefer TN panel), for the case the Corsair Obsidian 350d. a can controller and a couple of extra fans more moar swooshyness. also a optical drive, of windows 7 x64, no peripherals (mice and keyboard) and a ssd/hdd combo, 120 gb is more than enough for the sdd and at least 750gb for the hdd. The PSU, should be at least 650w and semi modular, and at least 80+ bronze.

Thank all of you people for your help (if i get any, i hope so)

You don't need a 650w psu. 550w is enough for one gpu, and 750w is the minimum for two gpus.

Please....PLEASE... don't put an ODD in a 350D.

The G3258, I5 4670k, i5 4690k, i7 4770k, and i7 4790k are the only overclockable intel cpus.

But, I'd personally go with the g3258 and upgrade it to broadwell i5 when you have the money.

No, the g3258 will keep up a 4690k in virtually all but a few heavily threaded games.

If you lose the 350D and go for a cheaper case (N200, Source 210), no ssd, and no fan controller then you could squeeze in a 4690k, but then you'd also need a better cooler when you overclock it (hyper 212).

how does the i3 perform well at its stock speed vs a 6300, i still plan to get a hyper 212 anyways, overclock or not.

It's hard to budget if you need the 350d and an ssd-hdd combo with 1grand ._.

You really don't need an aftermarket cooler unless you're overclocking--that $30 could be spent elsewhere. i3 perform comparably to an FX6300.

Unless you have an obscenely large ps2 collection, 1tb should be more than enough. I have over 100 steam games installed and I'm pretty sure Im still under 500gb.

Just get an external ODD (or internal and run it externally), put all your music and games on your computer then throw that ugly ass thing out.

i have been wondering, for installing windows can i use an external drive, or does it need drivers and stuff to run?]

You can install windows off a flash drive, but most ODDs don't require drivers.

@Kbraw,

I am a little confused. You want a $1K build including o/s and monitor with a 350D case and Z97 motherboard. Do you want an unlocked cpu? Do you need a gpu, and if so how powerful, i.e. what games/applications?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
