Sound Card

Do you really NEED a Sound card, honestly?, I've never used one before and considering buying one, but how much of an effect or boost does it give people i'm mainly playing BattleField 3 and C.o.D e.c.t

It mainly depends on what you are spending on sound-gear (headset, speakers, etc...)

If you're not planning on getting high-end speakers, you won't be able to hear that much of a difference,

since most onboard-soundcards aren't too bad these days.

For good virtual surround, 5.1 / 7.1 real surround, yes, you need it. Battlefield has amazing sounds, and you are missing out if you dont AT LEAST have GOOD stereo headphones. Current gaming setsets with real 5.1 or 7.1 are really expensive and downright crappy sounding.

If you have 2.1, or mediocre headset there is absolutely no need for sound card. Fine card for virtual surround  is around $35. Dont buy next call of duty and rather buy the card and play battlefield 4 with orgasmic sounds.

If you have bad headphones, rather than investing in soundcard, buy new quality stereo headphones.

You don't need a pci/pci-e soundcard for low impedance headphones.  If you have any more questions, read the FAQ.
