I dont have hard drive option in my boot order and just installed an ssd

Can you provide us with more info, for example what is your main boot device (Or what should be) and what other devices do you have installed etc?

So your hard drive disappeared from the boot order after installing an sdd? Or the ssd isn't in the boot order?

The ssd isnt in the boot order... this is my first run at this so its all new. I press f7 and go to change the boot option and there is no way to select anything about hard drives its just realtec and something dvd. So I switch the drives again formated the ssd and am running the migration one more time

It sounds like you are just using the boot menu, many new devices need to be setup in the bios first, Look for a key to press to enter setup / bios and then change the boot order in there.

Plus do you have a raid card installed by any chance, as it will also need setup if that is the case.

My single old HDD was in raid 0 so that might be it but when I turn on the comp its just f2 for set up and f7 for boot options

Then hit f2 and boot into setup (That should be the bios) once there, you should find an option to change the boot options. Set your hardrive or main boot device (the one with your os) as number 1 or first.

I have seen many people make the same mistake, don't feel bad.

I am sure the time will come when we all do stupid things such as forget to plug in a monitor cable after I get a new monitor and stand wondering for the next 2 hours why it doent work. (Tuts not from personal experaince.)

Anyway, hope you enjoy your time here at LTT. B)
