Laptop Help!

I'm thinking of getting a laptop used on eBay for less than $400. My two main competitors are the lenovo ThinkPad T410, and ThinkPad W510. I really need dedicated graphics and the eBay listing for the w510 isn't specific on which graphics type it has. Do all w510's have fx 880m's? What is the 880m like, compared to the NVS 3100m in the T410? The w510 is $50 more. Is it with it? I also can't figure out the resolution on the W510. It's a bigger display, so does it have higher res?

I currently own the T410. It's good enough for taking notes and watching videos but if I wanna do anything that uses any power it struggles, and I'm willing to be the W510 wouldn't be much better. Those are first hen i7s in both systems. The 3100m is nothing to speak of. Can't do any kind of gaming. On the other hand it's awesome for school just because it has a bunch of different ports and a little keyboard light

 

The w510 doesn't have an 880m. it has some sort of quadro variant or a low power GTX.

 

Between these two i would say do the W510. But see if you can save up a couple hundred more to get a generation or two newer lenovo.

@xNeon thanks! I currently have an IBM ThinkPad X41 Tablet running Windows 8 Pro and pretty much anything is an upgrade. Is there any laptop in particular you would suggest?

Those generally aren't adjectives that come with a $400 lappy, what are you gonna use it for?

I like the older t410-420's

The T series is good, but they can't game at all. Anything with a graphics card that can pull 40fps on low settings will be like $600+

Plus you can chuck it off a building and it'll work.

My aunt spilled a full glass of wine on her t430 and it survived no issues.

W510 if you don't mind the weight. I personally have a T410 and I love it, it boots fast, and it can run older games that I like to play, others I play on my desktop

I think I've decided on the ThinkPad T410s. I'm going to put am ultrabay battery in it, and was wondering why the slice battery from the t410 doesn't work with the t410s. Any ideas? Does it secretly work?
