I'm sorry if this is not in the right forum section. Please do correct me if it is not.

So I've heard of this core parking thing... And I've seen evidence on games such as battlefield 3 and 4 that you can get a huge gain in performance if you unpark all your cores.
Is there any disadvantage besides energy consuption regarding unparking all your CPU cores?

Thanks in advance.

Just a slight bump in energy usage, but not enough to worry about tbh.

I used this program to do it.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

Oh, this again.... It only applies to virtual cores (so, if you have an i7 or an i3 desktop CPU) and it only happens in Windows 7. Core parking is not a bad thing, it's a power saving feature that works very well for the most part. In certain applications on windows 7 it simply doesn't work properly, the virtual cores stay disabled even though they could be used. It doesn't give you a "massive" performance boost, but it can help in very specific situations. So, if you're running windows 7 and you have an i7 or an i3 CPU you can give it a try, otherwise don't even bother.

This, core parking is a powersaving feuture, in Windows 7.

It can be easaly disabled deu a registry value chance.

I did it for BF4 and saw no difference...
