Would a NAS be useful?

Okay, this is the thing:

-  I have Netflix, the greater sub even, which allows 4 people to watch

-. I do have 2 hard drives full of data (external drives) but they are full or close to full, I have one internal 500GB HDD, nothing on it.

- Only people in the house are me, my 2 sisters and my mom, my mom doesn't watch stuff via Netflix doesn't need anything that I downloaded

Devices in house:

- My desktop, always on, always using

- An old laptop, belonging to my older sister, occasionally she uses it

- Somewhat new laptop, low end, younger sister, uses it rarely

- A Nexus 5 belonging to my older sister, constant use, though for messaging and stuff, not watching

- A Samsung Galaxy tab 2, 10,1, so pretty old, a lot of use, belongs to my  younger sister

- Moto,G, younger sister, rarely in use

- OnePlusOne, me, much use

- A tv in the living room, much use by my sisters.

Does it have any use? I know as a backup but.... other than that? I might use it to play files instead of Netflix.

I am not even sure if Android devices can use a NAS... can they?

Android devices can, you can get apps for that

If it's just that, and your desktop is always on, you could use your desktop as a NAS

https://filezilla-project.org/

This allows you to set up a FTP server on your Windows PC, so it has the same function as a NAS with the added bonus of being able to be a regular PC as well

Download FTP client apps on your phone

Transfer speeds to your desktop would also be amazingly fast (since the drives are in the PC)

I have Nas4Free on an old intel P4 PC and use the emit app on one of my 24/7 pc's to stream music, videos, share pictures, and files. (thought you don't really need a Nas to use the emit app, that's just how i do it.)

I also use it to store and share files/ game saves / iso's / roms / ect within my own home, it just depends on what you do any how many devices you have so I cant say for sure that you will need one or not. (Honestly you could most likely get away with partitioning your HDD and sharing that partition.)
