Hard drive partitioning problem

How can I get backup to show up as one big square and shrinking and re-extending doesnt work also it wont let me extend the C partition with the unallocated space if I shrink

 

 

I know the backup should be on a separate drive shut up about it (its mainly backup from my rabid deletion habits)

and what is this system reserved thing
