What are some good graphic tablets for around (preferably under) $80 USD?

I don't need a lot of buttons, I'm more focused on the drawing surface area.

IIRC Wacom is the standard for these kind of tablets.

Spend a teensy bit more for this, maybe?

Well, $80 is the absolute top, how is Turcom? Amazon as well as other sites have some fairly positive reviews.

Huion also have good reviews, but they seem to almost look like a cheapo Chinese company.

If you can deal with basic functionality and a kind of small workspace, here's another Wacom

IDK about other brands, hopefully someone better with this can help.

6"x3.7" seems rather small.

Huion is the best of the non-wacom tablet manufacturers. I would take a look at them. I personally have a wacom Intuos, but i am going to replace it soon with a GT-220.

How is the build quality of the Huion tablets?

From what i have used they are fairly slimier to the wacom I have, just a little less dense. The texture was a little rough for me, but that's probably  because mine is so worn down. The only real problem is that the software isn't as good as the wacom one. Make sure you download their software before you plug it in otherwise you will never get it to work (So says everyone on youtube... suckers :P).  Other than that they are pretty dang good and won me over a little for the price (as i am a college student).

So, for the price;

This Huion with a 10"x6" area, 8 keys, plastic body, good reviews, and a pen that needs batteries,

VS
This Wacom with a  tiny 6"x3.7" area, 4 keys, aluminum body, reputation, very good reviews, and a pen that apparently doesn't need batteries,

which is a better buy?

They're the same price

Really depends on what you are using it for. For me the small area would be fine for me because I really just need the pressure sensitivity. If you are doing something like Photoshop or Manga than the larger space would be very beneficial, especially if you have a monitor that is relatively the same size.
