I'm runing a AMD A8-5600k, which is a crappy CPU, it bottlenecks my R9 270x a lot in games like Planetside 2. I recently starting looking into what the northbridge does, and I found that overclocking it can boost performance of compute task up to 40% without overclocking the CPU more (I can't get passes 4.3 Ghz without going past 1.5 volts). I don't know how to approach overclocking my NB, so far I tried 2200 Mhz @ 1.3125v (Aida64 reads it at only 1.2v though). From what I read to get the 40% boost I would want it a LOT higher, something like 2700 - 3000 Mhz. Anyone good at overclocking the NB please help.

It'll only net you a small boost if you are using the integrated gpu, but since you are using a dedicated card, it won't do you much good. Also, turn shadows off - my cpu isn't much better than yours, and i have the same card. Turning shadows off, i can have everything else maxed out.

Okay I will, but what would be safe voltages for a NB overclock?

Not sure for that chip mate, tried googling but can't find the Northbridge voltage but i think it'll be around 1.2v stock.
