disk space at 100%

here is my situation. recently my hard drive has been running at 100% all the time. there are moments when it goes down like normal and i can use my computer but every time i go to launch a game or even open up a browser is jumps to 100% and stays like that. i cant find what is causing this problem...   whenever it is at 100% i cant use or even click on anything. its as if everything locks up. sometimes windows wont start up and i have to restart my pc. im thinking its windows itself?? any ideas? thanks.

Try defrag the hdd to see if it makes a difference. Use Piriform defragggler, it will take a day or two to defrag.

ive tried defraging it already. ill use the software you mentioned and try agian.

Piriform Defraggler is want you need, it's better than the windows one.

Are you saying that Windows reports your disk full for a time then drops that to some value?

yes but only for a few seconds then it spikes back up and stays at 100% i dont even have anyhting running when this happens.

when im not using it i put it in sleep mode.

Wouldn't hurt to run a hard drive diagnostic, I use Seatools for DOS, that's just my preference though.

You might try leaving it running periodically and see if that eliminates or lessens the problem. I am thinking it could be a case of various pieces of software checking for and/or downloading updates; virus/malware checkers doing scans, etc.

i left it running all night, and its back to normal. thank you
