EVGA 850 B2

Go to solution Solved by tuberolector,

I'm a little hesitant to comment on the new B2's just yet. They're Superflower with 5 year warranties, sure, but I don't know the platform their based on and I don't know of any reviews on them right now. Honestly though, unless the B2's surprise me for being Bronze units, you should be looking for a better unit for high-end SLI/Crossfire setups that require 850W. I suspect the 850B2 will fail to be competitive for the same reason as the Corsair CX750. You want something a little more than a CX unit when you need 750W.

Well I bought it, so we'll see how it goes.

I am in need of a new power supply for my main rig, and I want one that is at least 850 Watts for future SLI/Crossfire expansion.

For a multitude of reasons, I only have around $100 to spend of a power supply, and this EVGA Supernova 850 B2 caught my eye.

Do you guys think that this will be a reliable power supply and is good for my money? If not, what would you suggest?

The B2 is a great power supply, plus EVGA's amazing warranty. I'd go for it but I could spend a bit more and get the G2 which is probably the best 850 you can get right now.

Are you going to review it yourself? Test the electrical performance? Void the warranty by investigating the internal components?

You don't really expect it will die immediately do you? As far as you'll be able to tell, it will simply work. Maybe loud, who knows.. but it will work. And since it's an EVGA unit with a 5 year warranty, it should last a while.

I'm still waiting for the reviews before I make any conclusions.
