Hey guys, I have a 1GB graphics card that has high core and memory clock and I want to overclock them even higher. The defaults are 1050MHz Core and 1600MHz Memory. So far I have pushed the numbers to 1150 core and 1600 memory. The card is designed for overclokcing and so far it has been rock solid and 100 percent stable. I did this 1 year ago on the same card and by this point it was flickering and became unstable but now I have a new CPU and motherboard it is letting me go higher, how much more should I go? Should I just go until its unstable or what? also do the core and memory clocks have anything to do with each other or can I not overclock one and overclock the other? I have no plans on changing the voltage so when it becomes unstable thats it. Has anyone overclocker really high before and has any experience with this?

as far as you can with still being stable.

Roger that, how much does it affect life. remember I am not adjusting voltage.

not all that much as long as your not running high usage 24/7. By the time it dies you likely wont want it.

Well said, I will go as far as I can get on MSI afterburners default settings and I will not unlock and go further. A good balence between me being comfy and pushing it alot.

keep it under 95C.

MSI afterburner will likely not allow you to push your voltages high enough to cause accelerated degradation.

high temperatures and unsafe voltages will shorten the life of your chip(in most cases insignificantly) high clocks have next to no effect on life

any sane overclock should still give you 5 years before noticable degradation sets in with the amount most people game, at which point you may need to dial back your overclock, or maybe not. purely speculation.

the only thing I am sure will shorten the life of the chip is a 24/7 overclock(GPUs dial back clock and voltages so no worries) with significant overvoltage.
