So today my H100i Arrived and i got it installed, nice temps and everything so i decided to see how hot it actually gets maximum.
I loaded up prime95, ran a stress test for about 5 minutes, and got one core error.
About a minute later i got two more. So i stopped the test, and restarted. Ran the test again and got a failure within 2 minutes.
The temps are actually pretty good for my 8350. (as i am writing this, another just failed within 30 seconds of starting the blend test) around 50 maxed out all cores.
I have no overclock as of yet, and the one that has failed the most is worker #6.
(Now worker 8 just stopped, about 3 minutes after the first one)
So, does this mean i should RMA the CPU? I really don't want to do that.
I plan on switching to a high end intel later on, after i get my New GPU so should i just wait?

System specs are in sig, and the fatal error was "Rounding was 0.49609375, expected less than 0,4" this time, but it is a different number each time.

Thanks in advance.

Were you using the CPU without faults before the new cooler?

i never actually tested it on the stock cooler because i was getting temps in the ranges of 55 C idle, and i didnt even want to think about how hot it would get with prime95.

I am certain i installed it right, and the corsair link software shouldn't cause these issues.

It is currently entirely stock (set to performance mode in the bios) @4.0Ghz.

My friend had a defective 8350 and Prime95 reported similar errors to yours or crashed his system within minutes. We tested it in a different motherboard and found out it was defective, but you might not be able to do that. If it is having errors in P95 all stock then it might be defective, or maybe it's your MB.

i can take it to work and try a mobo there, but it hasnt crashed as of yet.

Is waiting a few months a good choice?

You could keep using it, but if it is unstable then I wouln't recommend using it for too long. If your bought a consumer CPU ("CPU in a box" as AMD call it) and it doesn't have physical damage then AMD will replace it if it's broken (someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

Take a look at this:

okay, well it was a "CPU in a box" so i should be able to replace it, but it isnt actually crashing in any games so far it is just in Prime95 (and then it only halts the core, i dont bluescreen or anything).

It looks like i got a bad chip, so i will definitely be sending it in for RMA at some point in the near future.

But until i get my R9 290X Vapor X GPU, i will continue using it.

From there i will get a new board and an i7 4930k or something
