HD449 vs HD439

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Can you suggest a value oriented headphone, if any? I'm leaning to a hd439 due to other site's recommendations

I just want a damn good headset/headphone+modmic combo ._.

HD 439 is fine, it just doesn't need an external amp/DAC unless your motherboard is having audio problems. HD 518 will have a more neutral "audiophile" sound signature but you'd sacrifice the bass boost.

Like what the topic says, what's better?

I'm more of a metal/punk song lover and like to play FPS and MOBA(HoN \m/) for long periods of time(12-15hrs every sunday (I know I'm addicted :( ) )

I'm thinking of getting the HD439, modmic 4.0, and a Fiio E10 DAC.

I really want to have an awesome audio experience in gaming and music.

Are there better headphones or gaming headsets out there? My concern here is that gaming headsets are overpowered by bass and the mids and highs are sometimes shitty(owned a Tiamat 2.2) with a not so great mic. :(

My Current PC Codename: Scrapper

Lot's of headsets are very bass boosted, some come with EQ options though, like Steelseries USB headphones.  If you want clear audio, the HD439 or ATH-M50s should do just fine :D

Will I lose some audio quality if I went to getting a HD439 if I play games?

God no, Sennheiser makes fantastic headphones.  In fact, I'm kind of a Sennheiser junkie.

FFS you do not need to spend $75 on a DAC/amp for these headphones. Just plug them into your onboard.

sorry ._. I was thinking of getting the hd558

That doesn't really require special amplification either. Save your money unless your motherboard audio is actually having problems.

HD 439 is fine, it just doesn't need an external amp/DAC unless your motherboard is having audio problems. HD 518 will have a more neutral "audiophile" sound signature but you'd sacrifice the bass boost.

The 439 is better in my opinion, despite being lower on the product lineup. Similar sound signature but it has the advantages of a removable cable and velour pads.

ok thanks for the advice. I might buy one this month :D
