GTX 780 TI Matrix plat vs classified?

Go to solution Solved by rodion.zissou,

So, i am stuck as to which of the two to get. I can get either for around the same price but not sure which is best, what do you guys think?

There are a few threads on this.

Points:

1. The extra ram will help at higher resolutions (1440p +). Will also help if using A LOT of mods (skyrim). And help with the few games that need it (ex. Watch Dogs)

2. Many argue in normal scenarios (excluding above cases), the cores will reach their limit before ram, rendering the extra memory useless.

Other points to consider...

1.Asus support is not popular, probably for a reason.

2.EVGA has a step up program you can use if the new NVIDIA 800 series launches in the coming months.

3.EVGA has acclaimed support.

They are definitely not a reliable source, half their traffic if from supposed launch times.

Hmm the step up program sounds very nice from evga, Its one thing i am worried about, getting one of these card with the 800 being just around the corner. Do you have a link where i can learn a bit more about this program?

What extra RAM? Both are 780 Ti cards at 3 gb of VRAM.

The classified has tremendous 3rd party support (BIOS, Classified tool, EVBot) whereas you need the Asus XCB for overvolting the 780 Ti Matrix. GPU Tweak has killed quite a few of these in LN2 mode lol.

Step-up is only to reference edition cards, and within 90 days of purchase if eligible. I would never go from a Classified to a reference Nvidia card to be honest.

Oh man, I'm dumb. I confused matrix with strix. Anyone want a potato?

lol you also confused 780 and 780 Ti then :P

I like my potato mashed with brown gravy, or maybe baked with cheese and bacon bits please.

I'll leave my post to let the record show I bake the best potatoes.
