Editing + 3440/1440 gaming rig

Hey LTT!

I am currently planning my new before mentioned build, to be used with the AOC 3440 by 1440 monitor, once it gets out. I am also building inside the silverstone rv05 windowed case. Graphics card will temporarily be a gtx 760 untill the new maxwell 880 has its debut.

I am gonna raid 0 and keep large files and backups externally.

This is what i am considering so far: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GCNhFT

I am interested in hearing your thoughts about this.

Personally for Editing I'd recommend 64GB of RAM

And what games do you play? This can help us decide if it's overkill or not.

About the gfx card, the 760 is from my old build, so i will be spending 0 bucks on that ;)

I also already have two nf a14 ppc lying for a 280 aio preferably, so i would like to them spend on something nice.

I play alot of recent games, so i am assuming i might go for sli later on, hence the ax860 psi :)

And would it be overkill to go for 2400 ram for editing - i am gonna be using adobe premiere, i forgot to mention.

SSD in RAID 0 is an utter waste of money in most circumstances, especially with 32GB of main memory. The system would be better IMO with a single 1TB ssd. It would also have one less potential failure point.

Higher speed memory can make a difference in editing and rendering so long as the latency is good. Not sure how important color is to you so I'll ignore it. You might consider Mushkin Redline or G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

If you are not in a rush then yes.

If you're going to wait for the 800's, you might as well wait for X99 and DDR4 RAM as well. Those will be coming out in september last i heard, and 800 series is rumored to be coming a month later in october. If you aren't in a rush, i'd suggest waiting.

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it
