Question about "downgrading" google+

"If I "downgrade" my google+, will this delete my actual gmail account? Also, can I create a new one on the same gmail for youtube? It doesn't say whether it affects my gmail or not, but I just wanted to make sure. 

I tried to delete my excess channels that are linked to my youtube, but I couldn't, and have to wait because "you either created this account..." message, and I don't know howlong I have to wait.
I want to remove the excess channels, and I thought deleting my google+ and recreating it would be faster. Please respond ASAP.
