Computer only posts at certain times

This is a very strange issue and I was looking for some insight into what is causing it from people smarter than me. I took my pc over to my friends house to lan, and it wouldn't post. It has one short beep that just cycled. The strange thing is before it stopped posting, it was just not showing any video output to the tv I was connected to (some sanyo tv). I took it home, same cord, configuration, everything but the display and it just works magically. My system is an amd based fx 6100 system with a gtx 560 ti and a thermaltake 850 watt psu, 10 gigs of ram. I also have 2 wd green 1 tb drives. Why would my system choose where to post? When I was there I reseated the gpu, ram and hard drives and it did nothing, I just don't understand.
