Memory Failure Beeps - Good Memory Though?

Go to solution Solved by Chri5,

yea memory error

try cleaning and re-seating the RAM

Tried that and I've tried 5 different sticks of ram (one at a time. I got the RMA approved so I'll be sending it in I guess... Never buying this motherboard again...

Thanks for all the help/

3 beeps

MSI 970a G46 http://www.ncix.com/detail/msi-970a-g46-atx-am3-970-57-67762.htm

The memory was working fine yesterday and I just bought a new set but now it won't post.

Is static the culprit?

I took out the graphics card and tried different sticks in each of the motherboard's slots.

I'll be trying another set of ram from another build but I doubt it's the ram as it has been working fine for the past year. There has been no OC'ing done.

when you install the new RAM

did you clear the CMOS?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Take out your new set and see if it boots

I've tried with the old working ram - 3 beeps again. Same thing with no ram.

Take out the motherboard battery and put it back in? Yeah I tried that.

Sounds like a GPU problem.

Your board is very annoying, it doesn't have onboard video, do you have a spare GPU? Even if it's PCI its gonna work lol

I took out the GPU to eliminate it as a point of failure. The motherboard should have some form of integrated graphics though. I think if it were the GPU - it would at least post right?

I checked and on the pictures, theres no kind of video, but it depends on the board if it wants to post, I don't know the exact brand of BIOS, but there's only AWARD with 1 long, 2 short and its a graphics problem.

My mistake, I meant 3 long beeps.

lol, this is one of the "cheaper" kinds of motherboards, they tend to go crying if you dont touch them properly or insult them
