Alright, so here's my plan. I'm going to get an Arc Midi R2, and I'll use Noctua NF-P14 Redux fans (2 for intakes, 1 as an exhaust). For the sake of my OCD, I want to be able to use another P14 on my heatsink, which will be cooling a 4790k (or a 5770k, depending exactly when I can get the funds).

Initially, I was thinking of using a Prolimatech Megahalems, however I have high profile RAM currently, and so if I get the 4790k and reuse my RAM, this would mean having to mount the fan higher, which would reduce the overall cooling effectiveness.

My next thought was the Prolimatech Armageddon, but I've seen mixed reviews about this. One site showed the Armageddon performing equally with a Noctua U14S, however on other sites I've seen it performing substantially lower than that, and I'm not sure which reviews I should go on.

A third option was getting a Gelid Black Edition dual tower heatsink, removing the fans, and using a NF-P14 in the centre of the stacks.

What do you suggest? I was also thinking of getting a used NH D14 from ebay because that would be relatively cheap, however I would've preferred a brand new heatsink if possible. Ideally, I want a Black Megahalems, that's peen "pushed" over slightly away from the RAM slots so I could use a fan with no compatibility issues, but I've yet to see a heatsink such as this. If only Noctua released some heatsinks with their Redux fans as standard... *sigh*

If you have high profile ram the D14 is out of the question, and the U14s does perform better than the Armageddon, its the best single tower heatsink around....so why not that?

CPU: i7 3770k@ 4.6Ghz@ 1.23v - GPU: Palit GTX 660ti - MOBO: Asrock Extreme 4 - RAM: Corsair vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz - PSU: OCZ 650watt - STORAGE: 128Gb corsair force GT SSD/ 1TB seagate barracuda 7200rpm

I thought ram compatibility for the D14 would've been fine if I only used one fan in the middle, or is that only true for the D15?

And the colour. I'll be making a black / grey stealth type build, with just a few red accents from some PSU cables (maybe, might still go with black cables). The standard Noctua fan colour would stick out too much in the build, and it would ruin the whole look (in my opinion, at least)

Would you consider getting something like an h100; that could be mounted to the top of the case.

I was hoping for an all air cooled system. The PC will have a windowed side panel, and water coolers like those just leave the PC looking a little bland to me, whereas something like the Black Megahalems looks awesome from a side window. It's just a shame that the megahalems is literally a few mm too wide to fit with a 140mm fan without hitting the second ram slot :-/
