Extremely Slow Wifi

Hi guys, I have this Belkin Wireless AC router:

It was given to me by my service provider and one of their employees came over to set it up for me. However, the wireless speeds I'm getting are very slow compared to the speeds on my desktop. It isn't just the download speed, but the overall WiFi network itself seems very sluggish. For example, when I open up Facebook messenger on my phone, it takes around 5-10 seconds just to fetch my conversation history for a particular contact. It also takes around 5 seconds just to send a Whatsapp message. Would the router have been set up improperly?

I'm not sure how you could have it set up poorly, generally it works or not at all.

Speedtest on ethernet

Ping: 23ms

Download Speed: 6.85Mbps

Upload speed: 0.68Mbps

 

Speedtest on WiFI

Ping: 40ms

Download Speed: 6.54Mbps

Upload speed: 1.15Mbps

 

 

Surprisingly the numbers are very similar, but my WiFi network just seems incredibly sluggish. I have no idea what's going on here...

Normally, are you close to or far from your router? And what about when you did the speed test?

EDIT: Also, what phone and other devices are you connecting to the router? Devices which run on older standards could slow the network down AFAIK.

Have you used the phone on a different WiFi network and had a different experience?

It isn't my phone's problem (it's brand new) but it seems like whenever my friends come over they always complain about slow WiFi lol
