My first build -compatability
I have never had the need to install a new OS of any type. Before I was like everybody else and bought cookie cutter pc's and just upgraded things like RAM as needed. This is the first time I will be attempting a custom build (and installing an OS).
The reason I went with the Kingston RAM is because it was well rated and it looks good with the ASUS board. I really like the features the ASUS motherboard comes with and is one major reason I chose it. I went with a 2 stick DIMM kit because the ASUS board was designed to work better this way. I believe I was considering the exact motherboard you selected, until I was convinced that I should invest more into the motherboard if I am going for a higher end gaming rig to allow for good/easy overclocking (in case I wish to do so in future), and just plane better performance for the system overall.
I fell in love with the Corsair C70 case the first time I saw it. It has great airflow, great exapandablitity and cable management, has the capability to install tons of additional fans, and it just looks freaking awesome (in my opinion).
I am wondering why you chose a different SSD if you said the Kingston one was just fine. Is the difference that great? Also, why you chose the Seagate drive over the WD drive. I just want to know in case this could drastically effect the performance of my rig.
To install Windows, just choose to boot from the usb drive when boot and follow the installation instructions.
Ram is ram. Brand doesn't really matter.
Unless you're investing in an even more expensive cooler for oc'ing, getting a more expensive motherboard to oc is pretty pointless.
The motherboard doesn't affect performance.
Looks are subjective. Stick with the case if you really want to.
The ssd was just from an older list. The difference isn't really noticeable for everyday usage.
The barracuda is better and cheaper than the blue.
By the way, the Corsair C70 comes with 3 fans, another plus.
They are louder fans and I personally wouldn't want to deal with using them in the first place.
