PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($334.99 @ NCIX US)

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler  ($62.99 @ Mwave)

Motherboard: Asus GRYPHON Z97 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($162.99 @ Amazon)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  ($149.99 @ Newegg)

Storage: Crucial MX100 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($212.99 @ Amazon)

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB DirectCU II Video Card  ($499.99 @ Newegg)

Case: Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 MicroATX Mini Tower Case  ($69.99 @ NCIX US)

Power Supply: XFX XTR 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($94.99 @ Amazon)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($99.98 @ OutletPC)

Total: $1688.90

This is a solid build, though I'd suggest changing the power supply to something that isn't XFX.

Edit: I just saw that the SSD is 512GB. Wouldn't it be better to get a 256GB SSD and like a 2TB HDD instead?

XFX psu are all built by Seasonic.

Unless one really needs the extra space from the start I believe a large ssd is better. It really is hard to describe how much better the experience is when everything is on ssd. Just imagine a system that for the most part responds as fast as one can click.

Have a go at that one.

2x 770 4GB > 1x 780 3GB
Managed to squeeze 2TB out of the HDD
750W full modular 80+ Gold PSU to incorporate the SLI setup
H100i for some mad OCing
No ODD because there's no real need for them now. If by some weird circumstance you need a DVD drive, just chuck in a $15 drive.

Bit late but work got in the road :/
