Lol, I think you can increase volume of everything in your software including Windows, and then adjust volume via volume knob on your external amp if you have one. That should technically be better but at low volumes the volume knob can cause a small amount of channel imbalance.

Both of which are probably not audible.

 

But it'll make you feel better inside.  :)
