Hi everyone, this is my first post (yay :D )

I'm just wondering if I should:

A ) Just upgrade my graphics card and power supply

or

B ) Build a whole new rig when Haswell comes out

My current build is:

Core 2 Quad Q6600

Ati 4870

4 Gb Ram

400w PSU

Thanks

Completely new one. You would be bottle-necked real bad if you just replace 1 or 2 parts.

Desktop:  MSi GTX 680 Lightning - MSi Mpower Z77- i7 3770k - Asus Xonar DGX  - 16Gb Ares Ram - GX 750w PSU

Laptop: MSi GE 60 - GTX 765m - i74700MQ - 8gb ram

I say build a whole new computer when Haswell comes out.
No matter what gpu you buy right now, you're going to be bottlenecked by your cpu.

So yeah, what Alpha said.

You're on a computer enthusiast forum, of course everyone will say build a whole new rig ;)

In all honestly the Q6600 is still half decent in games.  If you wanted a moderate upgrade say to like a GTX 660 or something I'd stick with what you've got and just change the GPU, add another 4GB of RAM.  Bottlenecking wouldn't be bad really.  If you want to play everything on max settings and all that, then I'd recommend a new rig though.
